Meeting/Event Information
DAMA Philadelphia hosts five full day chapter meetings per year, every other month from September through May. There are additional professional development opportunities, such as instructor led training, seminars and certification camps. These special events are priced separately at a discounted rate. Networking functions are held after select meetings and events.
CDMP Study Session - Data Governance continued (session 2 of 2)
DAMA Philadelphia will be running bi-monthly CDMP study and discussion sessions. These sessions should help participants prepare for taking the CDMP Fundamental and Specialist exams and are also useful to those who want to understand more about the Data Management subjects but are not planning on taking any exams.
In January we’ll have two sessions covering Data Governance from the DMBoK. This second session will be a continuation, not a repeat of the first Data Governance session. The Data Governance chapter has had changes in the updated DMBok that was released in early 2024.
As with all the study sessions in the series, this event will be interactive among the participants.
- Business Drivers, Goals, and Principles
- Defining Data Governance
- Understanding Activities
- Understanding Organizational structures, Roles, and Responsibilities
- Understanding tools: Business Glossary, Metadata Repository (Inventory, Data Catalog)
- Relationships with other areas – Data Quality, Metadata, Data Integration, etc.
- Review of example CDMP questions
Those studying with us should obtain a copy of the revised DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK) 2nd edition (revised in 2024) and should read the Data Governance chapter prior to the study session to get the most benefit.
This study session will be coordinated by Gabrielle Festa. Gabrielle has been on the Board of DAMA Philadelphia in Education for 10 years. She has expertise in Data Governance, Data Privacy & Protection, Data Ethics, Metadata Management, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Modeling and Design, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Master Data Management, Data Storage and Operations, Document and Content Management, and Big Data. Gabrielle is currently Data Governance and Privacy Director for Global DPO.
